Do airsoft guns hurt?:
There are so many factors that play into the feeling of impact; however, they traditionally aren’t painful. The feeling of being hit can sometimes be related to the feeling of being flicked or pinched. It’s enough to keep the adrenaline going without making for an unpleasant experience. For first time players, or for those who are worried about the impact, here are a few things you can do further decrease that pinch feeling:
Protective gear:
Protective gear is both encouraged and required (in some cases). It’s always important to wear protection on your face and eyes to prevent injury, but there is also gear to protect the rest of your body. This can be anything from gloves to boots to long sleeves/pants and vests. We’ve found that for those players that come to the fields in full protective gear feel little to no impact from the airsoft. If you’re looking to purchase your own gear, you can find some great equipment at https://www.shopcousins.com/airsoft/
Distance:
The further away you are from the opposing team/players, the lower the impact will be. If you’re concerned about the feeling, do the best you can to keep a comfortable distance from your opponents. Also, try not to shoot your opponents on parts of their body that are going to have higher impact, such as the fingers or the neck. This may encourage them to do the same to you, so instead, aim for their midsection.
Weight and FPS:
Our usual field grade BBs range in weight from .20 to .30, with an average of .25. Our max speed for our .25 BBs is 400fps. Although this is slightly higher than your typical paintball, the drastic decrease in size means that the BBs lose speed much faster than the paintballs. Even with the increase in FPS, there’s less power behind a BB because it’s so much lighter, resulting in a typically lower impact. You can always find updated info at www.cousinsairsoft.com
